Impatiens and Powdery Mildew Blight

Impatiens, historically, have been the go-to flower bed filler to the masses. That was until around 2012 when a nasty powdery mildew infected the seemingly entire world and wiped out the gardening world's staple for beautiful, carefree and maintenance free annual supply. So, "wait a few years until the mildew runs it's course, " they said. Nurseries completely pulled the plant from their shelves and stopped selling the pretty posey. This year we began seeing the Impatiens on greenhouse and major retail shelves alike. We thought we were in the clear... What do you think? Guess we'll have to wait a few more years. In the meantime, the begonia is a wonderful substitute.
